The excitement of getting a new dog cannot be compared to anything else. But making your dog adjust to new surroundings and a completely new place can be quite a hassle. You need to put a lot of effort into making your dog feel comfortable in its new home. Here are some useful tips which you can try out. These tips will definitely help your dog adapt to the new home within no time at all.

  1. The Choice Of Flooring

Whenever you get a new dog and bring it to your house, it will be hysterical, scared and it will throw a lot of tantrums. So, you don’t want your floors to be scratched up. This is why you should go for engineered wood flooring. Engineered wood floors are great to install, as they are durable and resistant to scratches. It is also very easy to clean engineered wood floors, if the pet leaves a lot of hair and fuzz throughout your house. You can just use a sweeping brush and call it a day.

  1. Set Up A Nice Cozy Space

Your dog needs to feel welcomed in the new house. Since the first time, it will be hard, you need to make the dog feel comfortable by setting up a nice cozy space for it. Have a dog bed of an optimum size, a food and water bowl nearby, having a space for littering is also good and don’t forget a lot of toys. Your dog will slowly adjust itself and will inhabit the new space as its home. Try to give the dog as much space as you can and you will see the results in a few days or a week.

  1. Give Them Time To Adjust

Dogs are naturally quite social, so they will adjust to the new place eventually. The best thing to do at this point is to give the dog time to tour the place, get acquainted with the family members and other pets that you might have. After a week or so, you will see the dog mingle with you and other life activities and eventually this will become a daily routine.

  1. Build A Routine

As mentioned previously, you need to help the dog adjust to the new environment, so building a routine is a good idea. You can start with the little things, like giving food to your dog at a certain time each day, taking it out for walks in the evening or mornings, giving it time to use the lavatory. After a week, you will start to see the dog becoming adapted to this routine and it will slowly adjust itself.
