We are just going to come right out and say it – it’s not weird to give your pets a very happy birthday! We know that some people think it’s silly, but we will take any opportunity to spoil our four-legged friends and show them some extra love.

Besides, a birthday is a great chance to reflect back on all the love and friendship your pet has provided you, and give them a little treat to say thank you. Whether your pet is turning one, five or fifteen, there are some great gifts you can give them.

They might not really know it’s their birthday – but they will definitely appreciate the gift!

Treats

Food is always a popular option with your pets. Dogs are especially keen on their treats, so take this opportunity to throw caution to the wind and indulge them a little more than usual. Even a dog with the most balanced diet can take a day off now and then! Choose natural, organic treats that are not just delicious but good for them, too, and they will be very happy indeed.

You can even have a birthday cake specially made for your dog. Believe it or not, there are bakers who will create a cake that is filled with ingredients that are tasty to dogs – but you probably wouldn’t want a slice yourself!

Toys

New toys are a big hit whatever the occasion! Whether it’s something to cuddle up to in their bed or a squeaky ball to play fetch with, toys help you to bond with your pet through play. Make sure you select toys that are safe for them to play with, especially if they tend to chew through their toys.

New accessories

A birthday is the best excuse to get your pet all dressed up. Dogs wear their collars and harnesses all day long, so they can wear out fairly quickly. Get them something new so that they can go to the dog park in style. Or invest in a coat that will protect them in any weather – it might not be an exciting gift for them, but it will be super practical for future use.

Quality time

One of the best gifts you can give your dog is your time. Try to spend some extra time with them on their birthday. Give them plenty of cuddles and walks, and make sure they know how very loved they are.

Are you eager to check out more potential birthday presents for your perfect pet? The natural dog toy selection from Wild Thought has some wonderful choices for your pooch.

Whatever you choose to get them, or even if you just take them for an extra-long and muddy walk, we hope your pet has a very happy birthday!
